Saturday 4th July was a day to celebrate as the final section of failing wooden post and rail fencing separating the paddocks was replaced with new posts and modern electric rope. We’re incredibly lucky to have around 9 acres that a generous local landowner allows us to cut for hay each year. Last night, a small team of amazing volunteers headed out to pull ragwort and docks, helping to ensure we get a clean, high-quality cut. A huge thank you to everyone who gave up their evening to help—it really does make a difference. Now we’re looking forward to harvest time… and that unbeatable smell of fresh hay filling the barn! 🌾🚜💚

Our wonderful volunteer, Susie’s (who so kindly hosts events in her barn) amazing son Rowan is taking on an extraordinary challenge this summer — running the legendary "Gauja Ultra Trail 100" an 100k ultra marathon in Latvia on 1st August! Not only will Rowan be pushing himself through 100 kilometres of endurance, determination and grit, but he’ll also be raising funds for Broadlands RDA. Go Rowan! The team have been working incredibly hard to keep our ponies as cool and comfortable as possible during the warm weather. Here’s just some of what we’ve been doing: Hosing them down regularly to help them cool off. Bringing them in from the fields during the hottest part of the day. Making sure they have plenty of shade and fresh water at all times. Plaiting up long manes to allow body heat to escape. Keeping a close eye on every pony to make sure they’re happy, hydrate
