Sony UK select Broadlands as a charity partner - The Sony Engage programme allows staff 3 paid charity days to assist with charitable work. During 2009 employees of Sony UK completed some tasks at Broadlands; painting a Field Shelter, helping with a lesson and creating the fabulous DVD - See What a Horse Can Do... and have chosen us as a partner for 2010, so they can assist with more activities throughout the year. Thanks to the Sony Engage Team and we look forward working with you.
5 December 2009
Boogie for Broadlands in Medstead - a complete sell out for people to see local resident musician Tony Humphrys. The dance floor was busy all night, the evening raised £310 with £160 coming from the raffle. The Ploughman’s supper was fresh and tasty, the company superb and the music incredible. See the pictures....
Round Up Dinner Dance at Medstead Village Hall was well attended with a licensed bar and music by Rapier. Feedback includes: “what a fantastic night”, “food was fabulous”, “company was great”, “music was very loud but very good”............. Total raised £2,000 to help to fund the new Pony Rowan a beautiful 15hh Connemara starting his training to become an RDA Pony.
Unfortunately we had to say good bye to Fossie who had been at Broadlands for 17yrs. He was a wonderful old chap full of character and love for the riders. He will be missed.
Our inaugural Golf Day was held at the beautiful Blackmoor Golf Club and 44 players enjoyed the fabulous weather for a great day of golf. The raffle was well subscribed with super prizes and the silent auction helped to push the total raised to £3,500. The Hazzards were the winning team and each gained a Calvin Klein Original Windbreaker.
Fun in the Park, blessed yet again with beautiful weather the Tombola and cake tables were ready early, the horses and riders turned out immaculately and demonstrated Polo and Trek. Many rosettes were handed out for the excellent and competitive riding. The new pony, Rowan a beautiful Dapple Grey 5 year old Connemara, was introduced to the Four Marks and Medstead Rotary Group who are raising the funds to enable Broadlands to purchase him. The Ashley Cup was awarded to Chloe Larby as the most improved rider throughout the year.
