It is a great opportunity for everyone to get out into the forest, the riders on their familiar mount but very different terrain, the ponies a chance to sniff somewhere different and see some other horses.
The parents have a chance to enjoy the day. This was extra special as Paul and Julie had organised a sumptuous BBQ with the meat supplied by our local and very friendly butcher, Reads of Lymington Bottom. There were bacon rolls for everyone before the first ride set off, well received by the helpers, followed by hot dogs, burgers in their buns litres of tomato ketchup and a healthy salad, followed by huge cookies and drinks. The New Forest picnic site was ideal with a purpose built BBQ and seating for everyone, they even organised the wind to blow away from the tables and into the face of the chefs!
